Seeking help for alcohol or drug use takes courage. Whether you are concerned about your own substance use, working to maintain recovery, or noticing that alcohol or drugs are affecting your relationships, work, school, or health, therapy can provide the support and tools needed to move forward.
At ClearView Counseling Services, we provide compassionate, evidence-based addiction and substance use therapy for adolescents and adults in Fairfield, Anderson Township, and through secure telehealth across Ohio. We recognize that recovery looks different for everyone and work collaboratively with you to build a healthier, more balanced life that aligns with your values and goals.
What Is Addiction & Substance Use Therapy?
Addiction and substance use therapy helps individuals understand the emotional, behavioral, and environmental factors contributing to alcohol or drug use while developing healthier ways to cope with stress, emotions, and life's challenges.
Substance use exists on a spectrum. Some people seek therapy because they have developed a dependence on alcohol or drugs, while others simply want to better understand their relationship with substances before more serious concerns develop.
Treatment focuses on the whole person—not just the substance use. Together, we explore underlying emotional concerns, relationship patterns, mental health symptoms, and life experiences that may contribute to substance use while building practical strategies that support lasting recovery.
Signs You May Benefit from Addiction Counseling
You do not have to "hit rock bottom" before seeking support. Therapy may be beneficial if you:
• Use alcohol or drugs to cope with stress, anxiety, depression, or difficult emotions
• Have difficulty reducing or stopping substance use
• Spend significant time thinking about, obtaining, using, or recovering from substances
• Continue using despite negative consequences
• Experience conflict in relationships related to substance use
• Notice declining performance at work or school
• Feel guilt, shame, or isolation about your substance use
• Have experienced a relapse and want additional support
• Want to strengthen or maintain your recovery
Recovery is possible at every stage, and seeking help early can make a meaningful difference.
How Addiction Therapy Can Help
Recovery involves much more than stopping substance use. Therapy helps you develop the emotional skills, insight, and support needed for long-term healing and sustainable change.
Through therapy, you can:
• Understand the role substances play in your life
• Identify triggers and high-risk situations
• Develop healthier coping strategies
• Strengthen motivation for change
• Build emotional resilience
• Improve stress management
• Address anxiety, depression, trauma, or grief
• Rebuild trust in important relationships
• Develop relapse prevention strategies
• Create meaningful, values-based goals
Our goal is to help you build a fulfilling life where recovery is sustainable and aligned with what matters most to you.
Our Evidence-Based Approach to Addiction & Substance Use Therapy
Treatment is individualized and grounded in research-supported approaches that address both emotional healing and behavioral change.
Motivational Interviewing (MI)
Motivational Interviewing helps strengthen your internal motivation and confidence for change while respecting your autonomy and readiness for recovery.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT helps identify thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to substance use while teaching practical coping strategies for managing cravings, stress, and difficult emotions.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT teaches skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness, helping reduce harmful behaviors while strengthening healthier coping strategies.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT supports psychological flexibility by helping you respond more effectively to cravings and difficult emotions while taking meaningful action aligned with your personal values.
Trauma-Informed Care
Many people living with substance use concerns have experienced trauma or chronic stress. Our trauma-informed approach prioritizes emotional safety, collaboration, trust, and compassionate care throughout treatment.
Relapse Prevention Planning
Recovery is an ongoing process. Together, we identify triggers, strengthen coping strategies, and develop a personalized relapse prevention plan to support long-term success.
