Andrea Bohlen is a licensed Independent Social Worker who has over eighteen years of experience working in the mental health field. Andrea earned her Master's Degree in Social Work with a certificate in Specialized Mental Health from the University of Cincinnati in 2006 and a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Bowling Green State University in 2003.

Andrea started her career working in community mental health providing home based services to children and families. She then spent 11 years working at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, first as a social worker on an inpatient adolescent psychiatric unit, and then as an outpatient therapist providing counseling services to internationally adopted children and their families at the International Adoption Center at the hospital. Andrea also spent two years at Mercy McAuley High School as the director of a program that provided intensive support to at risk students. 

Andrea has experience working with children, adolescents, young adults and families. Areas of interest include depression, anxiety, stress management, anger management, ADHD/executive functioning issues, issues affecting teenage girls and women, trauma, relationship issues, parenting, and treating individuals and families who have experienced adoption. Approaches Andrea uses in her practice are, cognitive behavioral therapy, supportive therapy, and play therapy. Andrea also has training in PCIT, Theraplay, and Sandplay, and has been level I certified in Dr. Bruce Perry's Neurosequential Therapeutics, which is a developmentally and neurobiologically informed approach to treating children who have experienced trauma. Andrea also enjoys incorporating elements of mindfulness, yoga, and art into her practice. Andrea believes in utilizing a strengths based and client centered approach to treatment, and also believes that building a solid and trusting relationship between client and therapist is key to helping clients meet their goals. 

Andrea is available to see clients in person at our Milford and Fairfield offices, and also offers teletherapy appointments. She works with children as young as 5 years.
